Unlike traditional clinics, we understand the need for relaxing, community-driven spaces to aid in recovery. At our sober living homes in Tupelo, you can experience the comfort, focus, and support you need to get and stay sober. Oftentimes halfway houses also assist in the treatment of substance abuse and/or alcohol and drug detox. A study published in the Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment found sober living home residents experienced improvements in arrest rates, alcohol and drug use rates, and employment rates. The authors found evidence that 12-step program attendance and social support systems were key components of recovery for residents. Numerous studies have shown that most people who live in sober homes after attending treatment have low rates of relapse and are able to live productive lives.In NARR homes, the goal is to protect the health of all residents, not to punish the resident experiencing relapse. In Oxford Houses, individuals who relapse cannot return until they complete a 28-day rehab program or complete treatment and demonstrate an ability to continually attend support group meetings. The ways that sober living houses work vary depending on the level of support provided. The National Alliance for Recovery Residences is one of the largest associations of sober living homes in the United States. It developed four levels of support that can be used to characterize most sober living homes.First Step Recovery groups and intake appointments are meeting in-person. SLHs may be certified or governed by Sober Living Coalitions or Networks. Founded in 1983, Step Denver is a residential recovery program that helps men with no resources and nowhere else to turn take the first step toward recovery. Some homes are part of a behavioral health care system where residents live next to a rehab clinic, participate in outpatient therapy and have access to the clinic’s recreational activities. Sober living homes are safe, cost-effective, substance-free living environments for individuals in recovery. Sober houses require residents to have already completed treatment and to abstain from alcohol and drug use.Some SLHs offer intensive outpatient services, including on-site medical care. These homes are often staffed in shifts by psychiatric nurses and licensed clinical social workers, who provide residents with 24-hour supervision and centralized recovery care. The term “12 Step Program” describes a way to recover from addiction that is based on the model developed by Alcoholics Anonymous. Steps 10 and 11 involve a deeper examination of the previous steps and the final step is focused on helping others avoid and recover from addiction. Nextep provides a safe sober living environment for individuals needing support in early sobriety.Residents are accountable for their daily activities; attend 12 step meetings (or other recovery-based meetings), find part-time employment and, attend house meetings. Random drug and alcohol testing ensure a substance-free environment. First Step Sober Living is a community for women at any stage of their recovery from substance abuse.
